Situated in the very heart of the Rioja region of Northern Spain, Bodegas Ramón de Ayala Lete e Hijos, is still very much a family owned and run concern and is located in the tiny village of Briñas, about three kilometres due north of Haro, on the northern bank of the River Ebro. They own 23 hectares of vineyards that are distributed around the villages of Haro, Briñas and Labastida, about four kilometres due south east of Briñas. Viña Santurnia is the name that the Ayala family has given to the premium wine from their Bodegas and Ramón Ayala, the winemaker, draws on generations of experience to select the best Tempranillo fruit of the Vintage to make his wine which, in order to gain Crianza status, has been aged for at least twelve months in American oak.
