Andes Peaks is one of the labels of Bodegas y Viñedos Santa Emiliana which was founded in 1986, with the object of producing exceptional wines. Working on the promise that “quality begins in the vineyard”, they began buying their own vineyards so that they would have total control over the quality of their crops. This sound approach is paying off with some truly excellent wines.
The Rapel Valley, itself part of Chile’s vast Central Valley, is sub-divided, for Appellation of Origin reasons, into the Cachapoal Valley and the Colchagua Valley and the Cabernet Sauvignon (100%) is harvested from both regions to give added breadth to this wine.
The colour is typically deep, brilliant, garnet red and, on the nose it has rich, ripe aromas of fresh red berry fruits and raspberry leaves which follow through to the palate with good body and full fruit flavours, with hints of mocha and vanilla giving character to well integrated tannins. The wine finishes well with good length and lots of fruity flavour.
